When I first learned about Human Design several years ago by getting a Human Design ‘reading’, my life was more than a little ragged around the edges. I was struggling financially, my marriage was dissolving and I had just moved to a new city.
To be honest, I felt out of balance and overwhelmed.
How I discovered my unique “strategy”.
Now, in the Human Design System , there are 5 “types”. I discovered my “type” is a “Manifesting Generator”. According to Human Design , my strategy for making decisions, as a Manifesting Generator, is to wait for something to show up in my life and then respond to it. Each type has its own unique strategy.
For my particular type, I can get what I want, if I wait for it to show up and then respond to it, instead of going out and trying to make something happen. Applying the correct strategy for your type allows you to get the correct, or wanted, results.
But that was not how I had been going about things. Oh, quite the contrary.
When I first learned that I had to “wait to respond”, I thought I would go nuts. I mean me, Karen Curry, wait for something to just show up that I can respond to?!! “They must be kidding” I thought. I never waited for anything in my life. I made everything happen. Or so I thought.
I figured I was a real go-getter, can-do, go-to kind of woman. In reality, I was really bumping into a lot of walls and often in various states of frustration while I was running around thinking I was "making things happen”.
So I decided that I would use my new found “strategy” and really commit to waiting for things to show up in my life. But I was in for a little surprise.
From Frustration To Revelation -- My First Big Lesson In Human Design.
I went on to take a class directly from the founder of Human Design, getting trained to share this information. I was impressed with the clear logic and deep wisdom revealed so clearly, helping you understand the beauty and the power of just who you really are.
Human Design is a relatively new system, a kind of synthesis of ancient wisdom and modern science, that combines elements of Eastern and Western Astrology, the Chinese I’Ching, the Kabalah (Tree of Life), the Hindu Chakra system and modern quantum physics.
Your personal Human Design “body-graph”, the arrangement of the information from those systems into a simple chart, can then be interpreted by a trained Human Design Specialist.
Now, I have been a teacher for many years. So with my new knowledge I decided I would have to teach my own Human Design class. I know how to set up a class, how to write a good press release, and how to publicize a workshop. So I set about my new project.
I did everything right for my Human Design class. I had a nice room booked, slick flyers and even a radio spot to announce my class.
Do you know what happened? No one showed up. Not one single person. As I am sure you can imagine, I was frustrated. I didn’t understand why this had happened.
Now here is where it gets interesting.
Now comes the interesting part. Two weeks later I was enthusiasticall talking about Human Design with a friend of mine over a nice extra hot latte at the local coffee shop. She was fascinated and wanted to know more.
She asked me to teach a Human Design class for her and some of her friends. Now I had something to respond to . An opportunity showed up in my life and I responded.
I re-issued the exact same press releases I had used for my first workshop. I re-booked the exact same room. I used the exact same flyer (except I changed the date).
Twenty-eight people attended my workshop! Many of them immediately booked readings. I doubled my monthly income in one night.
The only difference between the two workshops that I could see was that I initiated the first one and it flopped. I acted in response to set up the second one and it was a booming success. To say the least, I was astounded at the difference in results.
My first big “Aha” experience with Human Design.
I learned that when I force things and try to "make" them happen, I often feel frustrated, angry and eventually I burn out. For my particular type, that is a very ineffective strategy.
